Your Questions About Treatments

Question Mark ButterflyI have answered these questions generally, or specifically in relation to Quantum-Touch ("QT"), EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), and Reflexology.  If you have any questions that aren't answered on this site, or would like clarification, please don't hesitate to contact me.

How long does a session last?

Most sessions last from 60 to 90 minutes which includes time to talk.  The treatment itself normally lasts from 40-60 minutes, depending on the condition we’re working on and the time we have available.  Whenever possible, I prefer to work intuitively and allow the session to last until it ends naturally.

The first session will involve an initial consultation prior to treatment.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no definite rule to how many treatments will be needed for any particular condition – it varies from person to person.  Sometimes a condition will clear up after just one session, other times several treatments will be needed.  As a general guideline I would recommend having a series of at least 3 sessions, although it really depends on how you feel.

We can discuss it after your first treatment, however, I leave it entirely up to you to decide whether you would like to have further sessions and, if so, how frequently.

Do I need to undress?

Generally speaking, you remain fully clothed throughout the session.  However, please note the following points specific to each therapy:

QT  If possible, it's best to avoid wearing heavy synthetics (such as a thick fleece) as this can block the energy.  I may ask you to remove any items of leather (including shoes if we’re in a suitable location), as these tend to absorb healing energy, reducing the effectiveness of the treatment.

EFT  As this involves tapping gently on pressure points along the meridians, it's best to wear light-weight clothing so you can feel the tapping.  Otherwise, it doesn't matter what you wear.

Reflexology  Apart from your shoes and socks for a foot treatment, you can wear whatever you like.  However, please bear in mind that one of the techniques involves me massaging the back of your lower leg, so wide-leg trousers are best to allow a full treatment (no skin-tight jeans please!).

Will it hurt?

QT  During a QT treatment, most people feel either warmth or tingling and find the session very relaxing.  Some people don't feel anything during the treatment but usually notice an improvement later-on.

It is possible that pain or discomfort may intensify briefly before it improves.  This is part of the process and needs to be worked through.  In this case we would ideally continue the session until the pain subsides.

EFT  I've never known EFT to cause any physical pain.

Reflexology  This should be a relaxing and pleasant experience.  However, on occasion, there may be some discomfort or pain when a particular point is stimulated.  It should be very brief, and will be an indication that there is a blockage or imbalance in that area that needs to be cleared.  In this case, please let me know what you're experiencing.

Are there any side-effects?

You may feel tired during or after the session, although this isn't always the case.  Occasionally people feel invigorated and energised.

All of these therapies can release toxins which may be discharged from your body in the days following a session, possibly in the form of a mild cold or a change in bowel movements.  Drinking plenty of water helps to flush out the toxins and keep any side-effects to a minimum.

You may experience emotional release during the treatment, crying or laughing are fairly common.  In this case, it's best to just let it out - it's part of the healing process.  You will feel better afterwards.

Your sleep pattern may change for a few days following a treatment, possibly sleeping for longer, more deeply than usual, or having vivid dreams.  This is completely normal and is an indication that your body is responding to the treatment.

It's best to avoid physical exertion for a day or two following any treatment, to allow your body to process the healing fully.

Are there any contraindications?

If you feel unsure of the suitability of any treatment, please discuss with me and/or check with your doctor.

QT  The only time I would be reluctant to give a treatment would be if someone's had an organ transplant.  As far as I'm aware, nobody has tried using QT in this situation, and it's possible (though unlikely) that the body might reject the organ as a foreign object.  This doesn't apply where pacemakers, metal plates, pins etc have been implanted - these don't cause any problems with QT at all, although it would be helpful if you could tell me about it before the treatment.

Please see the question below regarding medication.

Otherwise, there are no contraindications. This is a very safe form of treatment in which the practitioner cannot do anything that would be harmful.  I don't decide what happens or what healing occurs.  I'm encouraging your body to heal itself in whatever way is most beneficial to you.

EFT  There are no contraindications as such that we are aware of.  However, it is best not to work on anything in depth if you are ill (e.g. a fever or contagious disease) as you could release more toxins at a time when your immune system is already working hard to overcome the illness.

Reflexology  The following contraindications apply for reflexology:

Heart Condition Pregnancy (1st trimester or history of miscarriage)
Aneurysm Thrombosis/DVT
Contagious Disease Severe Cellulitis
Acute undiagnosed pain * Fever

Please discuss with me before making an appointment if any of these applies to you.  Treatment may still be possible, depending on your circumstances.  If reflexology is contraindicated, a different therapy may be recommended.

* Please see your doctor for diagnosis.

Is it compatible with other therapies, or medication?

In most cases, I would advise you to leave at least a couple of days between treatments, regardless of the therapy.  This allows your body to process the healing and flush out any toxins that have been released.  It also gives you the opportunity to see what progress you've made, and decide whether you actually need another treatment or not.

If you are having treatments with another therapist, or are under medical supervision, please inform your therapist or doctor that you are having these treatments.

QT  Yes.  QT won't prevent any other healing or medication from working.  It can cause the body to absorb medicines more easily, so it's a good idea to check with your doctor as the dosage may need to be adjusted.

EFT  Absolutely.  EFT can be used to clear any blockages that may be hindering your healing process, so may make other treatments more effective.

Reflexology  Yes.  It's widely recognised and accepted by the medical profession as a powerful therapy.  It also works well with other complementary therapies.

Who can benefit?

Most people respond well to these therapies.  It's not necessary to have a particular condition or ailment to benefit, they can be used to generally boost your immune system and strengthen your own energy field.

What conditions can you treat?

QT  I have successfully worked on many different conditions, physical and emotional.  It's best known for moving bones with just a light touch and no physical manipulation, however, it also works extremely well on reducing pain, inflammation, stress and a whole host of other conditions.

We don't know of any limits to what can be achieved with QT.  I don't specialise in particular conditions as I prefer to work intuitively on whatever is the priority.  I'm happy to work on people with any condition, although I recommend that you continue to consult your doctor if appropriate.

Because of the nature of energy healing, it's not possible to predict in advance exactly what will happen.  Your body's intelligence or subconscious uses the energy for whatever is most needed, whether it is physical, emotional, mental or spiritual health.  You may like to look at www.quantumtouch.com for more specific examples of where QT has been used.

EFT  It's ideal for working on emotional conditions such as phobias, addictions, trauma, stress, anxiety or grief.  It has also proven to be effective for improving sports performance, physical health, pain relief and more.

Reflexology  It improves the circulation, boosts the immune system and promotes relaxation, so can benefit a wide variety of conditions, physical, mental and emotional.

Can you treat children?

It is completely safe to treat children and I'm happy to do so.  I do, however, ask that a parent or guardian be present at all times.

Top

Can you treat animals?

I'm happy to treat animals with QT - they respond remarkably well.  The sessions are generally shorter than for people but it would depend on the animal and the condition being treated.

If the animal has a serious condition, please get them seen by a vet.

Is it important to "believe" for QT to work?

No.  From point of view of spiritual belief, QT has no religious connection whatsoever.  It doesn't matter what you do, or don't believe in.

As far as believing that it will work, that doesn't matter either.  Many people have had successful treatments even though they were sceptical about it.  It's even possible to learn how to do it without believing!

Does practising QT drain you of energy?

Not at all.  Practising QT is very energising – I generally feel refreshed and invigorated afterwards.  I don't use my own energy, I use techniques to draw universal energy through my body, so I actually benefit as well as the client.
